Artist Statement: At Arkansas Technical University I studied Art and Elementary Education, but family and military obligations interrupted my plans. It was the commitment of husband and family that enabled me to finish my degree at Florida Southern College after we moved to Florida. I work in watercolor, pencil and color pencil. I also have an interest in working in three dimensional forms and frequently experiment in various media including paper engineering, bookmaking and fabric construction. When I have time, I enjoy quilting and prefer to create my own designs. Art and teaching have always been a part of my life. Fortunately I was able to combine these two loves into a career as an art teacher. Now that I have retired and settled in North Florida, I devote time to creating my work, experimenting in new media and work with other artists. Working with other artists and sharing the process and development of art is the most rewarding experience for me. As all teachers know, it is the students who influence me and I learn from them so I continue to teach watercolor studies at my studio.
